In March 2007 a ‘Bake Sale’ was organized at the Society Campus in which bakery items were supplied by Backerie. ‘It is the only bakery led, managed and owned by hearing-impaired young men who have been trained by a German baker.

The response of the students and staff to economically empower the physically challenged people was laudable. The products, though priced a little more than the market value, were purchased by the students so enthusiastically that the Backerie staff had to use a whole week’s stock to meet the demand!
